IT Support Technician

Reports to: Enterprise IT Manager

Basic Functions:
Troubleshoot and resolve end-user problems on a variety of IT issues including software, hardware, network access, printing and phones. Perform Installation of desktop hardware, software and phones.


  • Associates degree in Computer Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of various Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite of products, basic LAN architecture. Network equipment knowledge a plus.
  • Experience in installation and troubleshooting of Microsoft desktop hardware and software.

Job Environment

  • Service environments:
    • All ECR International employees both salaried and hourly; union and non-union.
  • Work is performed in the following work environment:
    • Office
    • Warehouse
    • Manufacturing
  • Moderate physical activity required handling and moving equipment (up to 50 pounds) plus standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Hardware Installation and Support; PC’s, Printers, Scanners, Plotters, Projectors/Display, and Network Cabling
  • Software Installation and Support: various Windows operating systems, various versions of MS Office Suite, Internet Explorer, Outlook, and other as required. Ensure that all software upgrades and patches are kept current as per ECR corporate standards, and that these upgrades are implemented in a timely fashion.
  • Provide first level support to ECR International network connectivity, access and equipment (i.e.: routers / switches / hubs / modems and others) as required.
  • Provide first level support to ECR International Syteline ERP application.
  • System Data Tapes: Backup, Retrieval and Storage.
  • IT Inventory control and procurement of hardware, software and telephone equipment as needed with supervisor approval. Ensure that the hardware and software are in compliance with ECR corporate standards.
  • Maintain telephone system; assist in upgrades and changes to phone system. Arrange for contracted service personnel where required.
  • Identify, plan and implement end-user training in all areas of computer operations. This is to include MS Office, and Citrix in a LAN/WAN environment. This is intended to ensure that common practices are utilized throughout the user community.
  • In conjunction with the HR Department and corporate IT, evaluate the training needs of the user community and implement a training program.
  • Cross training with other members of the IT Department.
  • Provide support to ECR International locations including remote sales and warehouse users.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the IT department work areas (i.e.: server room, phone closets, offices, work benches).
  • Must be available at all times for disaster recovery efforts, moves, power outages, upgrades and computer support as needed to maintain a continuous business operations.
  • Good documentation skills are a must. All job-related processes and procedures must be well documented and kept up to date.
  • To maintain a first level of customer service ensuring that all customers are treated efficiently and appropriately.
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
